Where Missouri stands
In 2026 Missouri lawmakers weighed the Veterans Mental Health Innovation Act, under which the Department of Health and Senior Services would award grants for FDA-overseen ibogaine clinical trials. The ibogaine language began in HB 2817 (Rep. Overcast), HB 2961 (Rep. West) and Senate bill SB 1581; the House Emerging Issues Committee voted a combined substitute Do Pass 8-1 in February. Lawmakers then folded the ibogaine provisions into HCS HBs 1717 & 1643, a psilocybin research bill for veterans and first responders, which passed the House 137-11 in early April. In the Senate the bill sat on the informal calendar from May 7 until the session adjourned on May 15, so nothing was enacted. Any renewed effort would come in the 2027 session.
Ibogaine legislation has been introduced in a recent session.
Funding: Proposed DHSS grant program for FDA-overseen ibogaine trials; not enacted in 2026, so no money is appropriated.

Vital Kauaʻi is a legally established church on Kauaʻi’s North Shore. Members from Missouri join a thirteen-week journey: six weeks of preparation from home, one week on the island with two held nights with the whole root in ceremony, and six weeks of integration after. Guides, a medical provider, somatic practitioners and integration coaches walk with each member through all of it.
Preparation, from Missouri

How this tracker is kept
- Each state is checked against legislature records, agency releases and published reporting, and carries the date it was last checked. Every development links to its source.
- “No known activity” means the state was checked on the date shown and no ibogaine-specific law, bill, funding or task force was found.
- The directory lists organizations and public offices with their own websites. Listing points readers to them and does not endorse them.
