Stanford University, the landmark study
In 2024, Stanford published the first controlled clinical study of the root’s primary alkaloid: thirty U.S. Special Operations veterans, one session each. One month on, PTSD, depression and anxiety had fallen by the figures above, disability scores went from 30.2 to 5.1, the level of no disability, and suicidal thinking fell from 47% of the group to 7%. Concentration, memory and processing improved. There were no heart problems. A 2026 follow-up with MRI found their brains measured younger after the session than before.

What does the price usually include?
As the clinics publish it: medical screening and labs, the room and meals, the ibogaine sessions with monitoring, and some form of aftercare. The exact list differs clinic to clinic, which is why the price does too. Ask for the written inclusions before paying a deposit.
Why do prices vary so much?
Length of stay, the month and availability, what is included, and who you are. A four-day program and a thirty-day detoxification program are different things, and a clinic that prices by availability meets you at a different figure in different months.
What does a whole root ceremony on Kauaʻi cost?

Is a cheaper clinic a worse clinic?
Price tracks length, setting and inclusions more than it tracks care. The questions that tell you about care are the same at every price: who takes your EKG and when, who is in the room overnight, whether it is the whole root or an isolated compound, and who holds the first week after you fly home.
Does insurance cover ibogaine?
Ibogaine stays outside FDA approval in the United States, and clinics in Mexico publish their programs as self-pay. Beond's CEO told the AP in 2026 that it would remain unapproved, non-covered care for now.
